You don't need to get the leather ones that boxers use. A cheap plastic one will work just as good. You can likely pick one of these ones up for a few dollars.
Use it Anywhere
A jump rope can be used anywhere. You can use them at home indoors and out. You can also take them to a local park or to the gym. Just toss it into your bag or purse and take it with you wherever you go. They are also great for sneaking in a quick cardio workout on your lunch break.
The only limitation is when using a jump rope indoors you need to make sure that the ceiling is high enough. The typical 8 or 9 foot ceiling won't be high enough unless you are really short. For home use you are better off jumping rope outdoors or in your garage.
Fast Workout
Until you've tried it, you won't believe how quickly a jump rope will get your heart pumping. You'll want to start off easy the first few times and limit yourself to very short workouts. Just 5 or 10 minutes will do it. Trust me, you'll be sweating buckets in that short amount of time!
